Best Zcash Wallet for Android (2026): Shielded, NU7-Ready Picks
Updated November 4, 2026. Ratings, installs, and versions checked on Google Play on November 4, 2026.
The best Zcash wallet for Android is one that's shielded by default, NU7-ready, and installed from Google Play or the developer's own repository. Vizor is our pick if you want several recovery phrases, Ledger over Bluetooth with voting and migration, Tor, or the same wallet on your computer. Zodl is the pick if you want F-Droid, Flexa store payments, or scheduled private migration on Android.
This roundup is written by the Vizor team. Every claim links to a Play listing, release note, or changelog, and we say where another wallet is the better pick.

How we picked
- A live Google Play listing with a release in the last 60 days.
- Shielded ZEC support. Transparent-only wallets are out.
- NU7 readiness, from each wallet's release notes. NU7 activates at block 3,543,405 (ZIP 259). For live status, use the NU7 readiness board.
- Ratings with their counts, as Google Play showed them on the day we checked.
Vizor: best for several accounts, Ledger, and a matching desktop app
Vizor is a self-custody Zcash wallet built around shielded ZEC, made by a team with years of experience building crypto wallets. It's open source under Apache-2.0.
On Android
From the Google Play listing:
- Receive to shielded Unified Addresses or transparent addresses, send from your shielded balance, and shield transparent funds after they arrive.
- Multiple accounts in one wallet, including several recovery phrases.
- Keystone hardware wallet accounts.
- Preset or custom lightwalletd servers, an app password, and privacy mode.
- Data safety: the listing says no data collected and no data shared with third parties.
- Ready for NU7 in the current release (updated October 30, 2026).
Vizor on Android also has Tor to hide your IP address from the server, the same as on iPhone. The same wallet runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux, and you can link desktop to Vizor Mobile with a one-time QR code.
Ledger over Bluetooth on Android
Vizor's Ledger support was built for desktop and mobile together, covering sends, swaps, voting, and migration. A follow-up fix made Android Bluetooth signing handle the largest Ledger commands and was confirmed on a physical Android device. Install Ledger's Zcash app 3.10.0 or newer before NU7 (v0.0.63). Step by step: Ledger with shielded ZEC on your phone.
Ironwood migration on Android
On Android, Vizor offers Immediate Orchard-to-Ironwood migration. The Private (staged) option is shown but unavailable. The reason is Google Play review: the staged migration ran as a background service that Play asks extra evidence for, and the Android version had no user-visible progress screen to show for it. Immediate migration moves your Orchard balance in one transfer, so that amount is public on-chain. If that matters to you, a software account can run a staged migration from Vizor desktop instead (start it in one wallet only), or see Orchard to Ironwood for the options.
Why people are choosing Vizor
Vizor ships fast: 63 desktop releases between April 23 and October 30, 2026, with Ironwood migration on the day Ironwood activated. Sean Bowe, a Zcash co-founder, switched to it in August and called it "your wallet developer's wallet". In October he added:
The cutting edge of privacy tech is deployed first in Zcash. And those features and integrations ship first in Vizor.

The honest catch
Vizor is new, with its first release in April 2026. It's on Google Play only: we found no F-Droid build, and vizor.cash/get links Play for Android. Its release notes have no in-store payments, view-only accounts, or tax CSV export.
Zodl: best for F-Droid, Flexa payments, and private migration
Zodl, formerly Zashi, is the most-installed Zcash-only wallet in this list (50K+ on Play).
- Install routes: Google Play, GitHub, and Zodl's own F-Droid repository.
- Private migration in the background. On Android, Zodl's gradual migration continues automatically in the background. Version 3.19.0 pauses scheduled migration until NU7 and offers it again after the upgrade.
- Pay at stores through Flexa, and view-only accounts from a full viewing key (3.18).
- Ledger over Bluetooth since 3.17.0, one account at a time, without voting or migration yet.
For a feature-by-feature look, see Zodl vs Vizor.
Other shielded options on Android
- Zingo! sends ZEC and memos privately and shields transparent funds. Version 3.0.0 (November 1) added NU7 support, a Swap tab, and a redesign.
- Zkool is on Google Play, with APKs on its GitHub releases page. Its docs say store versions may lag the GitHub release. It's the successor to YWallet, and version 6.36.0 lists NU7 support.
- Unstoppable is a multi-coin wallet whose listing says it has full shielded Zcash support. Version 0.53 added shielding from the Send screen. We didn't find an NU7 note, so check the readiness board.
Google Play, F-Droid, or APK: where to install safely
- Google Play is the simplest route. Open it from the wallet's own site, not from a search ad. Vizor's link is on vizor.cash/get.
- F-Droid works if the developer runs the repository. Zodl does. Add the repo from the developer's site.
- GitHub APKs are fine from the developer's own releases page. Never use APK mirror sites, Telegram files, or links from "support" chats.
- Whatever the route, no wallet needs your recovery phrase outside its own create or restore screen.
Ledger on Android today
Ledger's own app supports shielded ZEC on desktop only, with mobile "coming soon." On Android, pair your Ledger with Vizor or Zodl over Bluetooth. You'll need Zcash app 3.9.4 or later for shielded ZEC (Ledger), and Vizor asks for 3.10.0 or newer before NU7. The Nano S isn't supported.
Set up a shielded wallet on Android in 5 steps
- Install Vizor from Google Play and create a wallet.
- Write the recovery phrase on paper and keep it offline. See how to store ZEC safely.
- Turn on Tor in settings if you want to hide your IP address from the server.
- Receive a small test amount, and shield anything that lands on your transparent address.
- Send privately from your shielded balance. See how to send ZEC.
FAQ
What is the best Zcash wallet for Android?
A shielded-by-default wallet that is NU7-ready and installed from Google Play or the developer's own repository. Vizor suits people who want several recovery phrases in one app, Ledger over Bluetooth with voting and migration, Tor, or the same wallet on a computer. Zodl suits people who want an F-Droid build, Flexa store payments, or scheduled private Ironwood migration on Android.
Is there a Zcash wallet on F-Droid?
Yes. Zodl publishes Android builds through its own F-Droid repository and GitHub, as well as Google Play. Add the repository from Zodl's own site, not from a search ad or forum link.
Can I use a Ledger with shielded ZEC on Android?
Yes, through a companion wallet. Ledger's own mobile app doesn't support shielded ZEC yet. Vizor and Zodl (3.17 and later) connect to a Ledger over Bluetooth and keep the keys on the device. Update the Ledger Zcash app to 3.10.0 or newer for NU7.
Should I install a Zcash APK from a website?
Only from the developer's own release page or repository, and only if you can check it. Google Play is the simplest safe route for most people. Never install an APK from a mirror site, a Telegram link, or a support chat.
Which Android Zcash wallets are ready for NU7?
As of November 4, 2026, Vizor 0.0.60, Zodl 3.19.0, and Zingo! 3.0.0 list NU7 support in their Google Play release notes, and Zkool lists NU7 support in 6.36.0. For other wallets, check the community NU7 readiness board.
Does Vizor for Android collect my data?
Vizor's Google Play data safety section says no data is collected and no data is shared with third parties. Like every light wallet, it talks to a lightwalletd server to sync, and you can turn on Tor to hide your IP address from that server.
